First off, welcome to the official blog of Alysia Pope. For whatever reason your browser decided to land you here, I am sure glad it did. I realize some people create blogs about one specific subject, but I happen to have a few different passions, (alright, I confess – A LOT of different passions,) one of which happens to be writing. A genius idea came over me one day during work when I was asked to provide a synopsis of a LinkedIn seminar for my peers. After writing the synopsis, adding in a few of my own quirky tips (disclosure: I am a social media junkie and proud of it), I received great feedback, which sparked my interest, and gave me the desire to share my experience with a much larger audience. Enter: the World Wide Web. Of course, being a Gemini, I did not just want to tie myself down to one topic – I wanted to be able to share about a multitude of my passions and interests. I can assure you that the blog will continue to evolve as I grow myself, but in the meantime you will find this:

• A first class ticket to my adventures and travels.
• A view into my professional, social media, sales, & marketing realm.
• Ways I channel & feed my inner creative guru.
• A helping hand: philanthropic endeavors.

Seems like a lot- am I right? Yes, I know. Trust me – you will not be disappointed. But I do suppose before believing me you will want to know a little bit about me? That is only fair.

A little bit about my outlook on life: for the most part, it is extremely positive! After all, is there any other way to be? I think not. There are a few things I am sure of: I believe individuals should make the most of every situation they are dealt, I believe that travel is the only thing that can truly make you richer, and I believe if something scares you, it is probably a good thing to try – after all, they do say that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I’m not quite sure who they is, but I’m going to take their word for it, for now.

That being said, I am a twenty-something, 2012 graduate of Illinois State University – go red birds! Located in Normal, IL, my college experience was anything but normal. It was extraordinary. I had the opportunity to be a part of Delta Zeta Sorority, holding leadership positions throughout my involvement, study abroad in London, while working for an international production company, and traveling a few times a month. I am a born and raised Chicagoan and love every inch of the city. Disclaimer: as said before, I do realize that there are so many amazing places in this world and have decided (on advice of my grandfather) that I will never put geographic limits on myself! I have recently embarked on the next chapter of my life and am looking forward to the obstacles I will have to overcome, and I gladly welcome new challenges and opportunities. Professionally I am intrigued with marketing, social media, company cultures, event coordination and communications. I realize that is a very broad group – but I have found that there are so many different opportunities and directions that one can go with their career in today’s world, a thought that I find very intoxicating. I feel that my past experiences have given me a broad range of talents that I am excited and eager to utilize – and I am always looking to learn from my superiors. There is always someone out there that is better than you, or that has more experience than you, so why not learn from them?

Enough about me, for now. Take a little tour around. I will be updating as much as humanly possible in order to keep you entertained and to keep your minds intrigued & growing! I love sharing my experiences and giving advice, so I hope you all enjoy!
